Get Involved

To create lasting change, we must first create new opportunities for LGBTQ+ community members to exercise power through greater civic engagement. Through RiseOut, the Pride Center works to mobilize individuals across New York State to work as change agents, ensuring that the diverse concerns of LGBTQ community members are heard. We are committed to providing meaningful resources so the next generation of leaders can incubate and refine innovative strategies designed to significantly shift political and cultural structures.

We collaborate with colleague organizations to add our voices to conversations about legislation and current issues that our community members care about deeply. Find out below how you can support our partners and participate in RiseOut, so that we are all equipped to be strong advocates for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers.

get Out The Vote

New York’s voter turnout is historically low. In the November 2016 general election, New York had the eighth-worst voter turnout in the country. In local elections, when voter turnout is especially low, every vote can make a huge impact. Some local elections come down to a difference of just a few hundred votes or less. That means that every single vote matters!
You can help combat misconceptions and apathy and make sure people know that elections help shape the future. If you have an opinion on what should be done, from school board elections to judicial selections, then voting is the first step to making that happen.
