Providers Training on Substance Abuse & Treatment for LGBT Individuals

Through the NYS-OASAS Substance Abuse Prevention Grant, The Pride Center of WNY is focused on assisting health and human service providers to understand the impacts of crystal methamphetamine and other substances in the LGBT communities, educating providers on the unique needs of LGBT clients, and developing cultural competencies for LGBT-Affirmative care.

A Provider’s Introduction to Substance Abuse Treatment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Individuals provides both practitioners and administrators information about the interaction between LGBT issues and substance use and abuse. The curriculum offers skill-building, knowledge enhancing, practical skills to offer sensitive, affirmative, culturally relevant, and effective treatment to LGBT individuals in substance abuse treatment.

At the Pride Center, we connect with health and human service providers in our area and make referrals for individuals seeking treatment services.
